Spring Professional is recruiting for a French Multinational Insurance Company an Operational Risk Specialist based from their Lisbon Offices.

The main responsabilities are:
Reporting to the Group Quality Manager, the Operational Risk Specialist is responsible for the set up of the Portuguese risk department and will deploy its best practices in all the international offices/Businesses (non French operations):

  • Develop and deploy the department’s Operational Risk Management Framework
  • Implement and lead the department’s Quality Assurance strategy; actively participate in the development of the company’s new QA strategy
  • Identify and mitigate weaknesses in current first-level controls and develop and deploy additional controls
  • Review the current second-level control strategy and propose and implement improvements
  • Participate in the development of the department’s governance Framework
  • Act as the department’s key focal point for Compliance
  • Work with Internal Audit to present a coherent risk profile to the Risk Committee
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean & Six Sigma)
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the company’s ISO 9001 certification
  • Develop risk identification and control strategy
  • Review of current processes, the mapping of new processes, identifying operational risks and implementing first and second level controls
  • Responsible for the department’s AML, Fraud, Sanction screening and QA processes
  • Manage large projects and initiatives, initiating continuous improvement programs and ensuring that service quality standards match market needs.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Practical, proven experience in Operational Risk Management
  • Ability to measure, analyze and evaluate processes, controls, and risks
  • 3 Years or more of experience in a similar position, ideally in Financial Services
  • Ability to function effectively with a team through a matrix relationship
  • Experience working in an International, multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Ability to communicate effectively in French
