A well-known and established International Food Manufacturing Company requires the above to manage and lead the South African buying resource for direct category and raw materials to ensure a consistent, strategic focus on these critical spend areas.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A degree or diploma in Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering or Business or related is essential for this position.
- Previous experience having worked in a Procurement Management role with demonstrable results in complex buying working within a food or related manufacturing environment is essential.
- Previous experience managing and leading the Procurement Department and managing cross functional relationships.
- Category management experience is preferred.
- Must be confident and change orientated and comfortable within a matrix management structure.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and deliver according to agreed timescales.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have strong leadership, resilience, knowledge and commercial know-how to be able to lead from the front.
- Need to be able to take ownership and work independently.
- Person must have good business acumen.
- Good understanding of product costing is preferred.
- Managing and leading the South Africa buying resource for ingredients and packaging to ensure a consistent, strategic focus on these critical spend areas.
- Overseeing all categories of raw materials and packaging for their operation in South Africa.
- Within subcategories of spend, recommending strategic choices and assessing long-term risks and opportunities.
- Managing a team to ensure effective execution of the Company’s objectives across the spend pool, linking in with colleagues in other geographies to ensure the Company’s global scale is effectively leveraged, including on innovation and NPD.
- Coordinating and working closely with procurement teams to ensure strategies are aligned and effectively executed
- Acting in a timely and efficient way to support the business and internal customers as well as building long-term sourcing plans for key spend items.
- Selecting Suppliers and determining prices and contracts, in line with delegation of authority guidelines and ensuring correct sign off procedures.
- Supporting a range of EMEA cross-functional project teams to decide the ways and the means for cost, quality and service optimisations, value improvement and innovation development.
- Recommending and influencing choices around business partners and building a long-term sourcing strategy in order to secure the supply, to create long term cost optimisation and to develop market knowledge.
- Monitoring reporting tools and communicating progresses regularly against KPI e.g., CCI, supplier performance.
