Description
Our Switchboard Operator is the voice of the Mount Nelson, and plays a crucial role in creating the best possible first impression for our guests. The role includes the following responsibilities and duties:
- Assist callers by answering the line and connecting the caller to the correct person or department.
- Control and manage the answering of the switchboard to the required standards.
- Ensure the smooth running of the switchboard functions, including but not limited to, message taking, message delivery and the hotels switchboard operations.
- Assist and deputise for Front Office staff in other areas as and when required.
- Assist with departmental administration.
- Responsible for submitting the transport sheets timeously.
- Prepare outgoing letters and parcels, distributing and sending faxes.
- Provide information about hotel amenities and promote hotel services and ensure you stay self-informed on what activities are available in the city and surrounds.
- Assist with Food and Beverage reservations coverage as and when required, on a regular or semi-regular basis.
- Understand the check-in and check-out procedure on a hotel reception desk.
- To be aware of all the promotions and functions within the hotel.
