The incumbent will be responsible for management of the national Guarding fleet, focusing on fleet management systems and cost effectiveness ensuring the maximum number operational vehicles available for deployment. The incumbent is responsible for analysing all available fleet information to ensure optimal utilization of vehicles.

Operations:

  • Control and direct the activities of Regional Fleet managers concerning requirements, performance and trend activities, guidelines and deadlines of and reporting of Local Fleet Controllers
  • Implement/track actions to reduce motor vehicle accidents nationally
  • Maintain good working relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure prompt attention to company requirements per region
  • Maintain records and statistics to provide data for proactive and reactive measures and planning
  • Assist Management to plan for the effective usage and control of vehicles under their supervision
  • Monitor and provide feedback to relevant managers regarding fuel consumption
  • Authorize the procurement and cancellation of fuel cards
  • Scrutinize fuel reports received from suppliers to ascertain correct fuel consumption
  • Sample controls of vehicle monitoring equipment to determine levels of excessive idling and advising management of the outcome
  • Liaising with management to leverage of best practices within Fleet division
  • Implement all fleet SOPs

Finance Management

  • Assist Finance in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Effectively manage the cost of all fleet related expenditures nationally
  • Prepare for the purchase of capital items and assets (including lease vehicles)
  • Plan and authorise the purchase of consumables
  • Asset management
  • Ensure that most cost effective vendors are used for repairs and maintenance
  • Work closely with the Finance department monitor expenditure and invoicing

EHS

  • Develop and implement robust risk management strategies.
  • Manage the performance of all risk management strategies
  • Ensure legal compliance of fleet
  • Manage accidents

Human Resource Management

  • Pro-actively engage with employees to ensure optimal work performance, employee satisfaction and low attrition rates in an environment prone to employee development
  • Recruitment and development of talented employees in conjunction with the Human Resources department
  • Set and agree objectives and performance standards for regional fleet managers with regional executives and CEO of Guarding
  • Monitor performance, conduct performance reviews and provide feedback

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Degree or 3 year diploma - Fleet or Transport Management
  • Experience in fleet essential
  • 5 years’ experience at Middle Management level
  • People Management experience with a proven track record of employee engagement and development
