Job Purpose:
Bidvest International Logistics is looking to recruit a Forwarding Controller within its Seafreight division.
The successful incumbent will be required to plan and execute the movement of cargo by Sea, up to and including receipt and confirmation of shipping documents.
Qualifications & Experience:
Matric/ Grade 12 Certificate
Tertiary education would be an advantage
Any shipping accredited unit standard adavntegeous
At least 5 years experience as a Forwarding Controller or similar position
Highly experience in all aspects of International Forwarding - Seafreight
Key Responsibilities:
- To give good advise as regards to the most suitable and economic modes of transport within the time constaints set by the importer.
- Knowledge and experience to manage complex client's forwarding requirements. Constantly consider ways to add value to clients.
- Continually strive to build strong confident relationships with our clients and attend client functions and luncheons.
- Maintain good lines of communication with the EMOTrans offices or overseas agents.
- To closely monitor-trans-shipments and keep client updated as regards the non-carriage details.
- To establish and maintain a database on specific routes of inland transport rates,transport regulations, surcharges,schedules, cut of dates and forwarding closing dates of groupages and FCL cargo.
- Checking of overseas agents freight invoices against rates agreed with our clients.
- Ensure Operations Manuals / BCS Procedures are regularly reviewed with clients' input and updated accordingly where applicable.
- Ensure prompt responses to client enquiries and or queries.
- Ensure strict adherence to BCS (Business Compliance System).
- Ensure adequate feedback in respect of any operational or service related issues at departmental meeting.
