Description
Purpose: To ensure that all loads are transport safely, correctly, on time and in good condition to suppliers and customers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Code 14 drivers licence with PDP
- No recent driving violations
Knowledge Required:
- Awareness and knowledge of road rules and regulations
- Safety conscious
- Knowledge of loading of truck
Skills Required:
- Previous experience as a truck driver
- Ability to work under pressure
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
- Punctual and attention to detail
Job Summary:
- Transport finished goods and raw materials and from manufacturing plants.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items/faults and report immediately
- Report on safety issues and incidents
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Daily planning on deliveries and collecting goods
- Document trips in log book
- Retain and submit fuel/toll receipts
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Ensure product is transferred safely
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
