Position Summary:
The Associate Counsel, Global Privacy - Asia-Pacific is responsible for supporting Under Armour’s privacy compliance efforts across the globe, with a specific focus on supporting the Under Armour business in Asia-Pacific. This role will work closely with the Head of Global Privacy to align Asia-Pacific privacy support with the global privacy program vision and mission. This position collaborates with the Asia-Pacific teams focusing on eCommerce, Retail, Human Resources, Marketing, and Information Technology to deliver on our promise to Make All Athletes Better in a privacy-conscious way. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the UA Privacy team representative in the Asia-Pacific region by refining and scaling the Under Armour global privacy program into the region.
  • Support global data privacy initiatives, including working with the Head of Global Privacy in translating the related requirements into implementation guides specific to addressing issues emerging privacy and data governance trends in Asia-Pacific.
  • Provide cross-functional guidance for innovative and novel projects involving personal data in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Provide legal guidance and risk analysis to Under Armour organizations within Asia-Pacific, with a specific focus on supporting eCommerce, Marketing, Retail and Human Resources, including updating and maintaining the teammate privacy policy Asia-Pacific sections and privacy documentation.
  • Serve as the UA Data Protection Officer in select markets within Asia-Pacific.
  • Support ongoing compliance reviews and privacy impact assessments in coordination with the Head of Global Privacy and Senior Lead for Global Privacy Compliance.
  • Support development and delivery of privacy awareness and training initiatives within the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Provide legal guidance on privacy and data protection inquiries from UA users.
  • Together with the Head of Global Privacy, work on regulatory inquiries and responses related to privacy and data protection for the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Work with other legal and project teams to review and track privacy and data protection compliance through project lifecycles.
  • Support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) reviews for new technologies specific to Asia-Pacific.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex issues to various audiences and reach consensus with diverse groups within UA
  • Ability to leverage technology to coordinate with teams across multiple sites, functional areas, and time zones
  • Strong knowledge of Asia-Pacific (preferably China and Singapore) privacy and data protection laws and requirements
  • Familiarity and experience with ISO and/or NIST Privacy Frameworks a plus
  • Consumer-Facing eCommerce and Retail Privacy experience preferred
  • In house Privacy experience preferred
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional a plus
  • Limited travel may be required

Education And / Or Experience:

  • L.L.B./J.D. degree (or equivalent) and membership in at least one jurisdiction (preferably Singapore or other APAC jurisdictions) L.L.B./J.D. degree (or equivalent) and membership in at least one jurisdiction (preferably Singapore or other Asia-Pacific jurisdictions)
  • 6+ years of post-qualifications experience, with at least 3+ years of experience in an operational privacy role and/or providing operational guidance
