VFX Production Assistant
Ghost VFX
The Production Accountant is responsible for finance analysis and reporting for all Toronto based VFX projects. The role will work closely with both VFX producers and corporate finance teams, while reporting into the Head of Studio and Head of Business Operations.
Responsibilities
- Revenue / Invoice Processing
- Working with head of studio, biz ops and producers to create / track monthly forecasts
- Project tracking and client setups
- PO collection and invoicing
- Management of month-end process with finance teams
- Freelance/Outsource Management
- Tracking usage and approvals with producers
- Raising POs and ensuring timely payment
- Margin control and escalation to management
- Time log tracking and eligibility for local tax incentives
- Cost Management / Reporting
- Working with head of studio, biz ops and producers to create and track monthly labor forecasts
- Manage license and other tech related spend with finance team, including monthly accruals and analysis reporting to management
- Managing month-end process and accruals with finance team
- Contract and Resource Management
- Working with legal team to track and finalise client contracts
- Ensure production team schedule resource in line with contract conditions
- Tax incentive submission
- Tracking project eligibility and data collection
- Reporting spend per project as outlined on bid/contracts
- Projecting credits for corporate reporting
- Supporting finance team in final submission
- Corporate Reporting
- Monthly reporting including financial analysis and forecasting to Head of Business Ops and Corporate Finance
- Assistance with year-end submissions and related audits
- Drafting of budget and submission with senior management
- Ad-hoc analysis and reports as requested
Skills/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in business analysis or accounting, preferably in VFX or Post-Production industry
- Must be detail and results oriented, with strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, providing timely updates and flagging potential issues and solutions proactively
- Proficient Excel skills, including formula writing and data analysis
- Knowledge of VFX workflows is beneficial, as well as experience of OCASE and Provincial Tax Credit System
