Job Advert Summary:
Minimum Requirements:
- N6 National Technical certificate with a recognized trade test or National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years’ post trade experience in a mechanical engineering environment
- 2 years’ experience in a supervisory environment
- Code B drivers’ license and ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test
- Sound labour relations skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office including SAP)
- Must have completed a Supervisory Development Programme or equivalent.
- New Management Programme will be an added advantage
Primary Duties:
- Effectively manage mechanical resources and ensure optimum plant availability and reliability.
- Ensure scheduled maintenance tasks are done.
- Do formal monthly plant inspections and informal daily inspections with artisans.
- Setting of standards for work done and ensuring compliance.
- Give input and executes plant improvements and modifications
- Initiate and execute shutdown work
- Reporting and analyses of section performance data
- Partake in formal RCM program
- Co-ordination of projects including mechanical contract work at site.
- Supervision of staff and maintaining good labour relations.
- Financial management for the mechanical maintenance section.
Knowledge:
- OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 and 45001
- Operation of dosing pumps and large pumping units
- Water purification and treatment process
- Reliability centred maintenance and root cause analysis
- Budget control
