Ackermans is looking for a Freight Manager for their Supply Chain department based at their Head office in Kuilsriver. We are looking for a resilient and efficient individual, with a high energy level.
The Freight Manager will provide operational management of all inbound and export freight by overseeing the control processes, costing processes, freight movements, networks, cost control and order management in accordance with all relevant laws
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (degree), in Logistics/Supply Chain
- Customs certification and Transport/Logistics planning diploma is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Understands the Retail operations and DC processes and procedures.
- Works independently, as well as be a team player.
- Demonstrates influencing and networking skills
- Create a shared vision and positively influence across levels and functions within the business.
- Demonstrates decision-making and evaluation skills
- Has knowledge of clearing documents, SARS procedures governing shipping.
- Displays both conflict and organisational skills
- Minimum: 5 years of experience in supply chain within the clothing retail industry
- At least 3 years’ experience in a management role
- Two years’ Cross-border (SADEC & Export) shipments experience
- Experience in managing systems or logistics operation.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal).
- Experience in negotiating prices with vendors
- Experience in cross border product movement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide team leadership and implement operational plans in accordance with company culture and strategy
- Accountable to ensure import freight cost remains below targets
- Build, maintain and improve costing tool to provide a competitive advantage and efficiency improvements
- Ensure critical path lead times are accurately configured on relevant system and timeously updated with changes, ensuring all stakeholders have visibility
- Manage the movement of all merchandise shipments in accordance with Company SOPs while ensuring compliance to the most updated customs regulations
- Manage the export process from DC to Store with relevant service providers
- Responsible for operational execution of inflow plan with Freight forwarding partner in accordance with Ackermans logistics capacity
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain relationships and alignment
