Fitter

RCL Foods is seeking a Fitter to join our Chicken Division based in Rustenburg. The primary objective of the role is to ensure that all manufacturing equipment is serviced and maintained according to specifications and in line with good engineering practices. The individual will need the ability to work independently and under pressure.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Repairs and maintenance of all mechanical equipment

Overhauling and assembling of all mechanical equipment

Welding, cutting and repairs on stainless steel pipes and structural members. (Basic boiler making) Housekeeping

Adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Adherence to all ISO/HACCP standards and procedures

Attend to breakdowns.

Shift work, Overtime, call-outs and standby required Inspections & planned work as per Job Cards

Ability to plan work in terms of downtime prevention is essential

Sourcing of spares costing for planned work Basic boiler making abilities - welding, cutting and repairs on steel structures, pipes and equipment

Attend to breakdowns timeously, plan and execute corrective actions with sound quality and intent to minimize downtime Independence in assessing breakdowns, executing corrective actions with mínimal supervision

Ability to conduct root cause analysis on major breakdowns, propose and implement corrective actions

Minimum Requirements:

• Recognized Fitter trade test with at least 3 years’ experience
• Arc, gas welding and gas cutting experience essential
• Basic workshop equipment experience with lathe, milling machines, etc.
• Ability to take charge on major mechanical breakdowns with good communication and people skills
• Own transport FMCG (manufacturing environment) experience would be highly advantageous.
