Business Need/Purpose of Role:
To make cores according to specifications.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Experience & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12); or 12 to 24 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license. Valid forklift license. Overhead crane license.

Key Tasks:

  • Make and cure cores
  • Collect, inspect and prepare core boxes
  • Inspect core boxes and make necessary repairs according to specifications
  • Strip cores
  • Ensure cores are reinforced properly
  • Collect vent cord for venting
  • Collect core irons for reinforcement
  • Calibration of sand and chemicals
  • Report damaged core boxes and other non-conforming items to Shift Leaders
  • Ensure that consumable stock items are maintained and report low stock levels to the Shift Leader
  • Stack items in allocated areas and in a safe manner
  • Achieve set production targets
  • Perform TPM checklists
  • Always adhere to Company policies and procedures, standard operating procedures and work instructions (SOPs and WI)
  • Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions
  • Always work according to efficiency standards
  • Identify any potential hazards and risks and report to the Shift Leaders
  • To adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times
  • Attend compulsory safe start / green are meetings at the beginning of every shift
  • Adherence to quality control as per work instructions
  • Adherence to all statutory EHS, housekeeping and 5S requirements
  • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

Minimum Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Mathematical skills
