Duties/Pligte
- Providing administrative and secretarial support to lecturers and the Head of Department in the Department of Public Law as well as to Faculty committees (including preparing agendas and taking of minutes);
- Assisting students with administrative requests and communicating these to the relevant lecturers;
- Administering tests and exams, including the capturing and reporting of marks;
- Preparing and managing correspondence, reports and other documents for the Department;
- Financial administration (including capturing requisitions on SU's financial system);
- Making travel and accommodation arrangements for lecturers in terms of conference participation and other Department related activities;
- Professional liaising with clients and students;
- Event coordination, including high profile lectures, workshops and conferences;
- Basic research work (internet searches and preparing briefing notes);
- Managing diaries where required;
- Running basic errands where necessary.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A relevant post-matric qualification with a minimum of 120 credits;
- A minimum of five years' appropriate work experience in the higher education sector;
- An excellent spoken and written command of English, and the ability to function effectively in a multilingual environment;
- Proven ability to work on own initiative, both independently and within a team;
- Sound interpersonal relations;
- Effective organisational ability;
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
- The ability to deliver a professional and friendly service under pressure;
- Positive attitude towards students, clients and colleagues.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Knowledge of the University's internal financial and student administration systems.
