Network / Pbx Technician

NETWORK / PBX TECHNICIAN

Millside Total Communications is searching for a Network/PBX Technician with experience installing, maintaining and programming telecommunications networks, systems & equipment, including both hosted and traditional PBX systems and IP telephony systems. Knowledge of routers & switches is required and additional knowledge & experience installing and repairing copper or fiber cabling is a definite asset.

The employee will operate at customer sites and/or other field locations including commercial, industrial and construction sites, but will also service customers remotely when applicable. Requirements:

• Knowledge of key, PBX and IP telephony systems
• Experience installing, programming and maintaining customer VoIP systems, including Avaya and Grandstream, both hosted and premise-based solutions is an asset
• Knowledge of Nortel Legacy Products (BCM, MICS, CICS etc.) is an asset
• Knowledge of computer networking (routers/firewalls, switches, access points etc.)
• Knowledge of basic switching & routing equipment and protocols
• Knowledge of basic ethernet
• Knowledge of IP addressing topology, subnetting and how to assign/deploy
• Knowledge of DHCP and understanding how it works
• Knowledge of VoIP equipment and concepts
• Knowledge of telecommunications equipment operations and maintenance & installation
• Skill in operating service equipment including hand tools and testing equipment
• Ability to read and understand service orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and instructions
• Ability to mount telecom equipment while adhering to customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements
• Ability to install switches, network appliances, paging equipment and surveillance cameras
• Ability to install IP devices, terminate voice & data outlets at user location and into distribution frames, establish and troubleshoot video, audio, and IP networks
• Experience & understanding in installation, maintenance and repair of copper/fiber cabling an asset
• Installing closet hardware, including connecting blocks, racks, backboards, and patch panels.
• Ability to work at heights comfortably on ladders and lift devices
• Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract mandatory

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of related job knowledge and work experience installing and maintaining electronic key systems, PBX installation and repair, or networking

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
