Job Advert Summary:
Rand Water is currently looking for a Master Technician: GIS at their head office in Glenvista, Johannesburg South. Reporting to the GIS Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for providing corporate wide Geographical Information System consulting and oversight for GIS projects. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating workflows on projects with Rand Water Services and will be responsible for mentoring GIS interns / learners.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, GIS, Geography, or other related field
Alternatively, equivalent combination of the relevant education and / or experience
A minimum of 5 years experience in GIS technical field involving database and system management,data conversion and analysis of which at least 1 year should involve project management
Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise Administration and Design
Professional Registration with SAGC as a Professional

Primary Duties:
Provide a full GIS consultancy service to clients in Rand Water and Rand Water Services basedon the clients requirements
Provide expert advice to organisation on all GIS related matters
Provides technical support for GIS staff
Perform technical and related tasks with respect to mapping needs
Expertise in performing data conversion and editing
Design and implement data conversion procedures and perform database quality control
Provide database development support to GIS Manager
Makes recommendations to GIS Manager of software and data set purchases based on technological advances
Ensures integrity and relevancy of datasets
Sources data for use
Adjust and evaluate quality of data
Promotion of GIS section, demonstration of its service offering and products
Make oral presentations of system analysis, design, and operational data in a clear, concise andnon-technical manner
Liaise with Planning department regarding planning and development information
Investigate, analyse and design GIS business models and frameworks to conduct asset riskassessments that will support planning department in decision making processes
Presents different options and solutions to clients using GIS data
Evaluates capacity building to improve GIS service at corporate level
Provides training to other sections on system functionality and capability

Knowledge:
