We are looking for an experienced Government Relations Officer to join our company in Doha, Qatar.

As a Government Relations Officer you are responsible for processing and carrying out all transactions relating to visas, permits, licenses, registration, pertaining to employees, the company and its vehicles, liaising with various Government Departments and Agencies and your role will include key responsibilities such as:
Responsibilities:
Prepare statements and reports timely and accurately to meet the company and department requirements, policies and standards;
Establish good relations with government offices, various embassies and consulates in order to conduct smooth and efficient business dealings with these offices;
Plans the processes of the interaction with the government entities to ensure the timely and accurate execution of all government relations transactions/activities;
Acts as a liaison with government agencies to ensure that Company affairs are handled expediently and that a good relationship is maintained / built;
Maintains an updated in-depth understanding of government laws, keeping abreast of the changes and advising the investors, whenever appropriate, on the best and right government practices;
Acts as a midpoint between the governmental entities and the investors (foreign and local) to ensure that all conflicts are resolved and the processes are flowing in a smooth and efficient manner;
Ensure on-going compliance with all specific government regulations relevant to government relations transactions /activities;
Organize all routine processing of Immigration documents e.g. residence, work permits, medical examination, and visas, to complete all the necessary legal formalities;
Reviews the statistics and reports for all the visas issued to ensure that the reasons are highlighted and process is tracked;
Organize employee services like visa procurement, issue or renewal of passports, amendment of details on passport in order to save employees time and cost to the company;
Represent the interests of staff and investors at government offices to ensure that they are treated fairly and favorably at all times;
Advise on the communication implications for the organizations plans and actions to ensure government opinion and other factors which could affect the organization are taken into account;
Monitor and analyze pending legislation and regulations which may impact the organizations operations and alerts management in order to analyze alternatives and undertake appropriate action.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as Government Relations Officer / Public Relations Officer;
  • Knowledge of local governmental regulations and procedures;
  • Proficient in MS Office;
  • Arabic speaker.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Doha: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • PRO/GRO: 5 years (required)
