- Early Learning Centre is seeking an ECE superhero to add to our amazing team of educators. We are looking for a an assistant early childhood educator. Position includes Full time hours (9hrs with 1 hr break) Monday to Friday with the potential to renew after in a different position. OR part time, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, full days.
Your duties as a Early Childhood Education assistant:
- Complete "Entry Level" training through NS Early childhood department.
- Daily Class activity programming (science, sensory, social emotional, responsibility, confidence, independence, etc)
- Facilitating outings, following safety policies
- Classroom Routine
- Maintaining classroom supplies
- Making Messes and Tidying
- Follow NS COVID-19 public health recommendations for child care
- Follow day-to-day licensing requirements and center policies of best practice
- Positive Behaviour guidance is followed
- Model and lead by example for the children
- Use the program/App HiMaMa to send updates and record keeping daily
We are a Reggio Emilia philosophy center and love to get messy and have fun indoor and out. Our center is located close to downtown Kentville, Nova Scotia, close to accommodations, cafes, shops and parks.
We go on adventures exploring nature's playgrounds around us, getting outside and getting messy are part of our day-to-day fun.
We practice extending learning through play; you will need to think on your toes, be able to create and extend learning opportunities as they arise and plan for future activities based on the interests observed in the classroom.
Requirements:
Be aware and understand NS regulations for Early childhood Centers in practice or willing to learn - we recommend reading the document available online through the Early Childhood department and asking questions.

< 2 years - Criminal record check completed
< 2 years - Child Abuse registry (in Nova Scotia) completed
< 2 years - CPR-C (Infant and child)
Other certifications are considered a commodity.

We follow the up to date Public health Protocols for Licenced Child Care in Nova Scotia.
Masks are a personal choice unless you are feeling unwell, masks and sanitizer are provided in and out of every classroom and front entrance.

Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Early childhood education: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Child Abuse Registry Letter for Nova Scotia? (< 2 yrs old) (preferred)
- Criminal Record Check? (< 2 yrs old) (preferred)
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma? (preferred)
