Porter - Patient Transport - Regular Part Time

We currently have a* Regular Part-Time (0.2 FTE) opportunity for a *Porter *in the *Patient Transport *at *Sunnybrook.

Hours of Work:
**Weekdays & Alternating Weekends
: Evenings; 8hrs; as per schedule

On-Call & Statuary Holidays are Required

Summary of Duties

  • Transports patients to various hospital locations
  • Timely transportation of patients for their appointments
  • Responds to Emergency Codes as assigned or required
  • Assists, lifts and positions patients to and from transport equipment
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of the patient while in transit
  • If required, remains with the patient during examination/treatment procedures
  • Records and/or reports data associated with patient transport details
  • Performs specimens handling service
  • Performs patient related materials pickup/delivery duties such BRADMA, charts, pharmaceutical supplies, etc. as assigned
  • Inspects all transport equipment to ensure proper functioning and a high level of cleanliness, safety and adherence to Infection Prevention and Control requirements
  • Other duties as assigned such as mailroom functions and other non-patient related duties
  • Will be re-assigned to other campuses as required

Qualifications/Skills

  • Successful completion of secondary school required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience interacting with patients in a health care setting required
  • A minimum of 6 months recent Patient Transport Porter experience preferred
  • Recent Multi-Campus Patient Transport Porter experience preferred
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision, sense of urgency, customer/client focused
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lift patients and to meet the physical demands of the position (standing and walking for extended periods of time)
  • Understands the requirements of Infection Control & Prevention; the Health & Safety Act
