Lead Tape Operator (Entry Level)

Pomeroy Technologies has an immediate need for an (Entry Level) Lead Tape Operator in our downtown Montreal Quebec location.

This position is a Full Time Benefited position

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The selected applicant will be working out of our downtown Montreal QC location (275 Viger St.).

The individual who is hired to fill this role may be required to work an alternative schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure that there is adequate coverage.

The ideal applicant will be reliable and have access to a dependable and insured vehicle.

The individual hired to fill this position must be a Canadian Citizen and have resided within Canada over the last 10 years and be eligible for a Level 2 security clearance

The ideal applicant will have strong computer skills

Data center operations experience is strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

The individual hired to fill this position will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Follow tape process and procedures precisely as documented.
  • Understand all tape mount / system messages.
  • Monitor media / tape scratch pools and pending mount message.
  • Print all vital / media listings for day's shipment to off-site storage.
  • Pull and scan media tapes daily to send to off-site storage.
  • Reconcile each tape using tools provided by customer.
  • Pack and lock media tapes in their own container per process to send to off-site storage.
  • Report / Research / locate all media tapes when not reconciled (missing).
  • Report any discrepancies to Manager.
  • Scan / Reconcile / File / returning media tapes in the associated libraries / servers / racks.
  • Research and reconcile all media tapes not returned from off-site storage. Report discrepancies to Management.
  • Recognize minor to moderate hardware malfunctions and follow process to resolve or escalate per documented instructions.
  • Assist with training of new employees.
  • Interface effectively with team members, Management, Support teams, off-site vault facility.
