School counselors should:

Evaluate students’ abilities and interests through aptitude assessments, interviews, and individual planning. Listen to students’ concerns about academic, emotional or social problems. Help students process their problems and plan goals and action

Identify issues that affect school performance, such as poor classroom attendance rates

Help students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through classroom guidance lessons and counseling. School Counsellor administering psychological and educational tests for cognitive ability, school achievement, psychomotor skills, adaptive behavior, social skills, and personal-social adjustment of students experiencing learning and adjustment problems.

Counsel individuals and small groups on the basis of student and school needs

School Counsellor will have direct interventions, including remediation and therapy, that involve referred children. Conducted individually or in groups, these services are intended to alleviate academic and behavior problems.Mediate conflict between students and teachers and improve parent/teacher relationships

Maintain records as required. Psychoeducational assessment involves interviews with parents and teachers, observations in school, and inspection of school records. Each case study is summarized in a written report.

Report possible cases of neglect or abuse and refer students and parents to resources outside the school for additional support

Educations Qualification: Master's in Pscycology - Clinical or School counselling experience will be an added advantage

Salary: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month

  • T Nagar, Chennai - 600017, Tamil Nadu: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
