The _HSRC _policy briefs are documents that synthesize research and extract important information for policy processes. Electronic versions are published on the HSRC website.
The potential target audiences include government officials, funders, development agencies, academics, diplomats, students, media and many others.
The publication is aimed at policy actors and not academics therefore Therefore, the intention is to use plain, accessible English.
Minimum Requirements:
Key requirements
- Ability to proofread English text at the level of a 1st language English speaker and willingness to demonstrate this capability in a test on a Pdf document.
- At least 2 years’ proofreading experience of text in Pdf format, over and above any general writing experience
- Preferably experience as member of a newspaper or magazine sub-editing team
- Preferably experience in proofreading communication material based on academic, technical or scientific content
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Proofreadingng of Pdf version of the HSRC Policy briefs, which is normally between about 1, 500 and 25 00 words each (4-6 Pdf pages).
- Correction of serious spelling, language and grammar errors
- Checking for indications that text was lost or cut off during layout
- Check and proofread all captions, headlines and pull quotes.
- Check text used in graphs
- Generally focusing on finer details throughout the document
