Job Advert Summary:
Purpose of the position:
Add value and improve THC’s overall operation through contractual management and administration and legal compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Law and or completed accredited Paralegal studies
- Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience
- Understanding of statutory laws of South Africa including but not limited to Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and employment law
- Completion of articles would be preferable
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (formulas, pivots, charts)
- Clear criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities:
Legal Support
- Assist with organisations compliance with funder requirements and statutory requirements
- Legal queries including but not limited to employment law queries
- Legal research
- Drafting and review of contracts including HR, operational, MOUs, and funder contract
- Stay up to date with funder rules and regulations, statutory and regulatory changes
Compliance Support
- Assist with the implementation of the organisations system to track, expedite, and fulfill legal support requests, which may range from urgent support on contracts, employment law questions, and registration of new entities
- Conducting of legal reviews in order to assist with risk classification and control identification
- Uploading of contracts as and when they are countersigned
- Updating of contract registers as and when they are countersigned
- Communicating with GCU manager prior to legal documents expiring
Risk Reviews
- Assist with the performance of risk assessments linked to various awards through contract reviews as and when required
- Development and updating of a risk register based on reviews
Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of reports as required
- Provision of recommendations to improve areas of deficiencies and process weaknesses identified
- Support management through participation in projects designed to introduce new and/or changing legal processes
