About the Role

Our Environment & Health team has an exciting opportunity for two experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated environmental health professionals to join the team. We have 1x Permanent Full-time position and 1x Temporary Full-time (12 months maternity leave cover) position. Both roles will evaluate, investigate, and research documents & reports on environmental & public health issues as an Authorised Officer under relevant legislation. As an Environment & Health Officer you will promote, monitor & implement community environmental & public health standards to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines & policies within the Shire.

What you will be doing:

  • Investigate, assess, research, document & resolve customer request lodged in regards to environmental & public health issues;
  • Provide specialist assessment of technical reports & documents - acoustic reports, onsite disposal of effluent, contamination and the like;
  • Prepare standards, codes, information & fact sheets on various public health & environmental matters;
  • Develop & promote community health & environmental educational materials & programs.

About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or similar discipline;
  • Hold qualifications that enable authorisation by Council under the Local Government Act, Public Health Act, Food Act & Protection of the Environment Operations Act and all relevant legislation;
  • Experience with technical matters relating to Environmental Health;
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in Local Government and relevant technical expertise relating to Environmental Health;
  • Team player contributing to achieving business unit goals/measures;
  • Current Class C Motor Vehicle Drivers Licence.

Permanent full-time role, S1053 & Temporary full-time role (12 months), ML731

Salary: starting from $84K + Superannuation + Council Leaseback Vehicle.
