Hotel General Manager

Reporting to the Owners, the General Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the hotel. This is accomplished though budgeting & financial management, maintaining cost and quality standards, maximizing profits, developing and retaining employees and exceeding guest expectations.

The General Manager must provide leadership in service and innovation while providing a working environment that fosters career growth and development for team members.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Manage all sources of revenue to include rooms, food & beverage, and others. Focus would be on securing new business while maintaining established cost and quality standards, maximizing profits, developing and retaining employees and exceeding guest expectations
  • Promote hotel’s policies and philosophies to employees and guests through direct and indirect interaction
  • Responsible for the development and execution of business plans, including sales plans.
  • Develop, prepare, execute and achieve financial goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations and requirements, including but not limited to: health, liquor, gaming, environmental and fire code regulations. Maintain up to date on all changes to regulatory requirements affecting hotel operations.
  • Represent the hotel in appropriate hotel, tourism and business associations.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and analyzes monthly financial and operating metric results and works in collaboration with teams to achiever KPIs; net operating income, RevPAR index, guest satisfaction, associate inspections, capital execution and sustainability.
  • Ensure that all appropriate systems and controls are in place to produce accurate monthly financial reports and knows at all times where the hotel stands against budget
  • Creates annual budget with the Corporate Director of Operations and mentor the Management Team on their performance throughout the year.
  • Possess a strong knowledge GOP, NOI and forecasting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience in Hospitality, including a minimum of 3 years as a General Manager.
  • Knowledge of Rooms Division Operations, Sales and Food & Beverage
  • Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm, celebrate success.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop the Leadership Team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strategic thinker and able to help develop and support the overall business plan.

  • Fast paced and may require standing, walking or remaining on feet the entire day depending on business levels.

  • Lead and manage hotel operations to maximize profits and achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction.
  • Financial skills and experience with a strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies for property success.
  • Oversee service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, standards compliance and service and financial measurement.
  • Directs the leadership team in the development and implementation of hotel-wide strategies.
  • Creates a synergistic leadership team and business environment that consistently delivers positive results and continuously strives to improve results.
  • Is highly visible and interfaces with customers on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels and overall satisfaction.
  • Analyzes service issues and identifies trends. Facilitates the development of creative solutions to overcome obstacles and ensures implementation to continually improve guest satisfaction results.
  • Reviews sales goals and strategies to ensure alignment with the brand business strategy and proper pricing and positioning of the property in the market.
  • Supports the sales strategy and encourages leadership team to develop effective revenue management strategies and set goals that will drive the property’s financial performance.
  • Identify operational performance, productivity and efficiency gaps and implement measures to correct those deficiencies.
  • Responsible for monthly and weekly revenue/expense forecasting
  • Participates in preparing annual revenue and expense budgets
  • Follows company policies and procedures at all times
  • Tour and inspect property on a daily basis and monitor for property cleanliness, safety and security, product quality and exceptional service throughout.
