As Aquaculture Laboratory Technician for our closed land-based cleantech biosphere farm
you will operate and maintain the laboratory in our land-based farms in Saudi Arabia. We implement
highest biosecurity and animal welfare standards and strictly adhere to our SOPs. Continuous
learning and improvement are part of our DNA.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to manage all aspects of the laboratory for all microbial components required for
the operation of NOVATON’s closed cleantech system.
- Experienced in the analysis of all water parameters and support the aquaculture team in
conditioning the culture water and maintaining optimal water quality throughout the entire cycle.
- Analysis of the microbial community profile, including Total Plate Count and Total Vibrio Count
in the culture water and shrimp samples.
- Analysis of the plankton population and density in the culture water and the shrimp samples.
- Following the highest industry standards and safety regulations is a MUST.
- Report all results, observations, as well as analysis and interpretation of findings, including
actual and potential disease problems, to Farm Manager.
- Consistently record all data and results in specified forms with accuracy and responsibility.
- Manage security documents and ensure that all information and data collected is kept safe.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
- Ensure that highest biosecurity procedures and all safety guidelines are always followed.

Requirements:
- 4 + years of proven experience as Biology Laboratory Technician in the aquaculture industry.
- Experience in operating all laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances.
- In depth knowledge of preventative measures and laboratory best practices.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
- Mindset of continuous learning and improvement.
- Maintaining highest biosecurity an hygiene standards at all times.
- Care for and nurture the shrimps, maintain highest standards in animal welfare.
- Availability to include early/night shifts, weekends and/or holidays.
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills and can work effectively as a part of a diverse
team.
- Willingness to stay at the farming site.
Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in Aquaculture, Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental or Life Sciences, etc.
- Proficiency in English (B2)
