We are currently seeking a highly motivated, full-time *Camp Coordinator *to join our team this season! Our camps have an emphasis on tennis and golf, while also providing opportunities for engagement in other sports activities, games and crafts and are offered to children between the ages of 4-12.

This is a full-time seasonal position from June through August. The individual is responsible for the program planning, general safety and overall enjoyment of the children attending the summer camp program as well as coordination of daily program operations, including member relations, guidance and leading of camp staff. The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for managing potential safety risks and ensuring all equipment, supplies and first aid kits are ready for program operation. Responsibilities also include daily staff mentoring, implementing themes for summer camp and supporting the team to ensure the successful delivery of programs throughout the summer.

General responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement daily programming and age activities for children ages 4-12 years.
  • Ensure all designated areas (indoors, and outdoors) are free of hazards and are safe to operate daily.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to camp leaders regarding child/parent interactions and member service.
  • Provide a fun & inclusive environment for campers while building a rapport and meaningful relationships with children and camp staff.
  • Role modeling good behaviours including teamwork, listening, responsibility and initiative.
  • Model good sportsmanship through enthusiastic participation and support.
  • Coordinate training & planning sessions with camp leaders prior to camp start date & throughout the summer as needed.
  • Ensure all required equipment and resources are ready for programming each day.
  • Maintain open lines of communication and work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Be aware of camper dietary/medical needs & ensure all proper forms have been received.
  • Keep accurate records of incident reports and report immediately to the Activity & Engagement Coordinator.
  • Provide a high level of understanding to all parents with program concerns and feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience supervising school-age children in a group or camp setting.
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Reference Check.
  • Experience and/or interest in working with children and youth in a camp setting.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems effectively.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and leadership abilities.
  • Available to work some weekend and evenings.
  • Background in recreation and leisure, early childhood education, youth worker or equivalent is preferred.
  • Skills and knowledge of tennis and golf would be an asset.
