Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Logistics Superintendent, Ontario Woodlands. This job is permanent, full-time.
Logistics Superintendent, Ontario Woodlands
Your Challenges:
- Ensure compliance with all internal and governmental standards relative to safety, environment and utilization including mill-specific Chain of Custody or other certification requirements.
- Ensure chip and biomass deliveries are received correctly and measured/correctly & consistently in Ontario.
- Ensures that all bill of ladings for chips and biomass from affiliated and non-affiliated sawmills are in order to allow the products to be received correctly and efficiently.
- Manage the flow of 100+ trucks per day into sawmill and pulp facilities.
- Coverage on and off hours for scale and dumper issues at the pulp mill.
- Identify critical success factors and issue’s of the overall strategic operating plan.
- Provide advice to operations groups on local operating constraints.
- Maintain continuous improvement program to maximize productivity.
- Ensure all employees and contractors are aware of quality specifications for all facilities
- Provide field service expertise for Bush Chipping operations.
- Develop good working relationships with all governmental and public agencies, and stakeholders.
- Responsible for capital planning for all scales,
- Liaise with Sawmill, and Pulp & Papermill as it relates to weekly & monthly deliveries.
- Ensure staff, employees and contractors receive all necessary training and development programs.
- Promote team work within the Woodlands Operations Group.
- Perform other duties as required.
Your team:
- Reporting to the Woodlands Services Manager for Ontario Woodlands, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
Your profile:
- 5+ years relevant experience in logistics management or coordination;
- Technical, College, University or related Forestry Program;
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Demonstrated progression in leadership roles;
- The role requires travel that at times may be at 40%;

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
- Solid analytical skills and the ability to quickly make sound decisions based on experience and judgment
- Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture;
