The rare earth materials Lynas produces are essential inputs to future-facing technologies, designed to lower carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption. This includes high power magnets for technologies such as hybrid and electric vehicles, and wind turbines.

Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earth mines in the world. Lynas is expanding the project, building a Processing facility in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, to process concentrate from the Mt Weld Mine and Concentration Plant. The Mt Weld concentrator is looking to expand production to ensure capacity to feed the new Kalgoorlie processing facility. The mine is planning to expand and recent exploration from a 1km diamond drill hole has only increased our excitement.

We are looking for a motivated Geology Technician to join our geology team at Mt Weld on a 2 year fixed term contract.

In this role, you are crucial in providing support to the geology team. As a highly valued member of the Lynas Mt Weld team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Core processing including meter marking, core cutting and sampling
  • Field work related to Reverse Circulation and Diamond Drill programs
  • Data entry and other QA/QC procedures related to drilling
  • Open Pit Geology tasks such as ore spotting and ore mark ups
  • Preparation of consumables for drill programs

Qualities we value:

  • Valid C Class WA Drivers Licence
  • Forklift Ticket (desirable but not essential)
  • Hiab Licence (desirable but not essential)
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Computer literate and effective at dealing with data

This is a 2-year fixed term contract role with Lynas Rare Earths based at Mt Weld Operation, and offer a family friendly roster of 8 days on 6 days off fly in fly out (FIFO) from Perth.
