Assistant Food Safety Officer (Afso)

Job Duties and Scope:

  • Inspection of all food outlets on campus (twice a month).
  • Inspection of university housing outlets in two parts (4 times per port per month).
  • Assist in preparing the necessary reports for the food services section and filling out the required forms during the inspection process at the outlets.
  • Notify operators of registered food safety issues that must be corrected and followed up with operators until they are resolved.
  • Participation of Ministry of Health inspectors’ visits to university kitchens, cafeterias and outlets.
  • Support on the follow up on reports issued by the Ministry of Health and resolve all related issues with operators.
  • Follow up on food safety complaints in cooperation with the Food Services section.
  • Assist in arranging of food samples required by the Ministry of Health laboratory to ensure their complaints (5-6 samples during one semester) and follow up on issues related to the results if necessary.
  • Participate in providing food safety training and awareness.
  • Assist in design and improve of processes and procedures to make food safe and free of hazards.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food safety or equivalent.
  • Accredited Food safety certificate e.g. (Level 2, 3 and 4-food safety) form authorized training center.
  • Familiar with all laws and regulation of the Ministry of Health in the State of Qatar
  • 3 years or above of job-related experience demonstrating knowledge of sanitation regarding food safety. practices and control measures for handling and managing food products.
  • Certificate in Food Safety in Catering
  • Good Knowledge in HACCP systems.
