Job Duties and Scope
- Responds to the fire alarms and leads fire extinguishing/firefight operations. - Participates in firefighting systems / equipment inspections activities.
- Participates in implementation of fire alarm system simulation/testing programs.
- Commands and controls firefighting team during live emergency cases. Participates in, supervise the patrolling safety inspection activities for all QU campus indoor and outdoor facilities, and prepare related initial reports.
- Participates in the rescue activities in case of major accidents.
- Participates and support in the safety training delivery activities and awareness sessions.
- Supports in the fire evacuation drills planning, implementation and prepare initial reports.
- Responsible for the inspection/maintenance of fire team PPES and equipment. Responsible for the follow up of fire extinguishers replacement /refilling and ordering.
- May respond to emergency calls for specialized services such as hazardous materials, confined
- spaces rescue, ceiling fall, trench and collapse rescues. - Participates in developing and reviewing firefighting team standard operating procedures.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports related to the team periodical activities. Provides technical expertise and advice as needed.
- Follows all safety rules and procedures established by QU HSMS. Coordinates the team shift, attendance and rotation schedule.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of all assigned fire team members as per guidelines.
Qualification & Experience:
- Hold at least three to five years Degree/Diploma related to fire, safety from accredited institution.
- Minimum of (4) years' experience in firefighting at least (1) years as lead firefighter.
- Had been serving at least (1) years in a fire department institution or its equivalent. Accredited training in Firefighting, First Aid, Rescue and Evacuation.
- Able to plan, organize, conduct, report/debrief, and lead firefighting team daily patrolling. Have ample knowledge in Local & international fire safety standards and Regulations
- (QCDD, OSHA, NFPA... etc.).
- Knowledge of Basic principles, methods and techniques of fire suppression and prevention, basic
- methods, techniques and practices for hazardous materials mitigation -Ability to Read and understand technical materials related to fire science; understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Preferred NEBOSH Fire safety and risk management certificate.
- Must have valid Driving License.
Skills Requirement:
- Excellent coaching and mentoring skills, with good ability to work effectively environment. Computer MS Office software user's knowledge and experience.
- Good report writing skills - Problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Very good physical live fire drills. fitness level allows actively participate in emergency response activities and
- Confidence and resilience;
- Adaptability and flexibility
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Doha: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
