Description
Safety Officer:
This position is responsible for all safety processes and procedures on designated construction site, including third parties operating on Farmer contracted projects. Reporting to the site superintendent, the construction safety officer enforces company safety policy and work procedures. This position works with the site superintendent, company construction safety officer, and general superintendent to complete accident investigations to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and third parties.
Construction Safety Officer Responsibilities:
- Continuous inspection of project sites, to ensure a hazard-free environment
- Assessment and approval of subcontractor safety plans
- Verification of tools and equipment to ensure good quality
- Promoting safe practices on site
- Creating and enforcing safety guidelines and programs
- Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations
- Conducting investigations on accidents
- Verifying that all safety reports are submitted to related government institutions.
- Responding to workers’ safety concerns
- Manages all communications with government departments in regards of safety
- Arranges OSHA-mandated evaluations of the site
Requirements and skills:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in construction safety
- Ability to communicate excellently in both oral and written format
- Strong listening skills to be able to get valuable information from employees
- Profound knowledge of industry standards and regulations (OSHA)
- Good organizational and record-keeping abilities - the ability to maintain good record of all safety-related activities
- Ability to climb heights using ladders or scaffolding. A significant amount of construction works are done at heights above ground level which requires the safety officer to be able to access the work to evaluate it
- Profound knowledge of company project work. This will assist the construction safety officer to design and implement effective safety solutions
- Good team player, Self-confident, motivated, and independent individual
- OSHA 10 and 30-hour certification and OSHA OTI Certification are added advantage.
