About the Outdoor Business Unit

Outdoor is a complex $3.5B global business with seven leading brands spanning hand-held, walk-behind and ride-on product segments. The Business is strategically pursuing electrification of the product categories while maintaining our success in gas operated tools and machinery. Data plays an integral role in developing and executing the strategy, so this role will be a very important part of the team and will get exposure across the entire business.

Role Summary

The Analyst - Portfolio Management & Pricing will support the Outdoor strategic business unit through product life cycle management ("PLM") and portfolio data analytics. This will include, but not be limited to, the creation of data-driven deep dive analytics across SBD products and attributes, pricing strategies (both new and existing products), the new product development pipeline, competitive landscapes, and efficient assortment. The ultimate goal is to help the business identify opportunities for both sales and margin growth.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify and execute critical PLM & Portfolio Management analytics processes:

  • Pull data from our Data Lake and other databases (Snowflake, Amazon Hive, etc.)

  • Cleanse and thoroughly analyze data complex data sets
  • Join/merge different data sets
  • Publish data into outputs (Excel or dashboards/Power BI/QlikView)
  • Need to know how to create and publish Power BI dashboards
  • Understand data prep processes to perform data quality checks and build proofs of concept ("POC's") for insightful data visualizations
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Create materials and presentations to clearly and effectively articulate findings in the data
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial and strategic analysis, as requested from leadership
  • Proactively locate and define new process improvement and data visualization opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Support and help drive product-level insights across the Outdoor Product, Commercial and Finance organizations to facilitate discussions about optimizing each portfolio's performance.
  • Drive partnership across Product Lifecycle Management, Product Management, & Product Finance to move critical projects and initiatives through to completion. #ONETEAM
  • Delivery of key reporting packages necessary to understand NPD product road outlook, future complexity outlook, and financial impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years of data management and data project ownership, preferable experience with consumer products company
  • Systems & BI Analytics knowledge or the ability to learn quickly: PowerBI, Alteryx, Python, Power Query, QlikView, SQL, Snowflake, Amazon Hive, etc.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Software, especially MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to interpret data into actionable insights for business leaders
  • Demonstrated detail-oriented, self-reliant, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with comfort in presenting to and collaborating across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to independently work on multiple concurrent tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced setting
  • Experience in Strategic planning and execution
