Role:Apprentice Machinist

The occupation entails programming, monitoring, and operating CNC (computer numerically controlled) lathe machines to develop parts for the manufacturing industry. The CNC technician role is comprised of programming development instructions for computer controller based blueprints; Setting-up and developing programs and performing test operations to ensure the product is made to specifications; handling production, running the machine and monitoring it for problems.

Experience

  • 1 year of experience
  • Certificate of qualification, college degree or other training in CNC Machining an asset
  • Previous job shop experience preferred

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Read and Interpret blueprints and drawings;
  • Load, unload, change and modify programs as required. Strong understanding of G-Code required
  • Experience machining with live tooling
  • Use appropriate tools, fixtures and indicators to setup the machine
  • Change and set cutting tools as required
  • Adjust speeds and feeds for maximum efficiency
  • Operate the machine with all safety precautions in place
  • Deburr and prepare parts for loading
  • Deburr parts after unloading
  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
  • All other duties as assigned

Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
