Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Supervises and directs the daily operations, work, and activities of the Dental laboratory Technicians.
- Supervises the proper assignments of Dental Laboratory personnel, work sites and their re
- assignments to meet the changing priorities, work requirements and individual circumstances.
- Acts as a Dental Laboratory Technician I with all key roles.
- Plans and recommends vacation schedules for all Dental Laboratory personnel according to the Dental Clinic workload.
- Organizes periodic in-service training for Dental Laboratory personnel (e.g. fire safety, Infection Control, etc.)
- Ensures that Dental Laboratory equipment is properly handled and stored.
- Monitors the maintenance and repair of equipment and tools and ensures that dental equipment, tools, and materials are available for use.
- Remains abreast of the latest dental laboratory equipment, tools, and supplies. Ensures the proper training of Dental Laboratory Technicians and trainees.
- Develops a training program for newly hired Dental Laboratory Technicians and trainees.
- Maintains a continuous review of the performance, punctuality and co-operation of all laboratory staff and conducts their annual evaluations and recommends disciplinary action.
- Establishes and maintains a time schedule to provide a smooth flow of work In and out of the laboratory.
- Monitors the effectiveness of activities, reviews inventories and patients logs and statistics.
- Ensures the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Quality Improvement Program.
- Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish the Ideal results.
- Maintains a valid SCFHS registration and ensures Dental Laboratory Technicians maintain a valid SCFHS registration.
- Develops, updates, and maintains Dental Laboratory related policies and procedures.
- Updates Dental Laboratory Technician job knowledge and skills by patriating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personnel networks; patriating in professional organizations.
- Ensures compliance and adherence to infection control practices and procedures and safety protocols in the Dental Laboratory, in the cleaning of equipment, instruments, tools, and supplies.
