The incumbent to the recruitment and development role will proactively source, evaluate and make recommendations to hiring leaders based on key requirements outlined for the role. This employee is expected to partner closely with hiring leaders to create recruiting strategies to ensure that the School continues to attract, retain and develop diverse talented educators. This responsibility will include leading the implementation and administration of the school’s employee development and assessment strategy for support staff, professional technical, contractors and other employees and community members. This team member is expected to support and lead HR Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and employee wellness initiatives and to assist with any and all HR general operational processes, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment

  • Partner and collaborate with hiring leaders to define staffing needs and position-specific requirements.
  • Develop a diverse talent pool by attending or hosting conferences and local job fairs
  • Identify and connect with educators within and outside of international schools to build a strong recruitment pipeline
  • Establish ways to proactively source and attract strong educators to SAS
  • Identify sustainable solutions for advertising and attracting a robust pool of applicants for specialized roles including college counseling, education psychologist and learning support
  • Revise and streamline Preschool-Grade 12 faculty job descriptions.
  • Assist hiring leaders to screen online interviews, reference checks and performance tasks
  • Provide recruitment reports, including key performance indicators (timeline to hire and source of hire, etc)
  • Bring a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion lens to all hiring committees and decisions and regularly challenge colleagues to ensure that applicant pools are deeply diverse and hiring processes are fair and equitable.
  • Create a hiring culture that leads recruitment processes with anti-bias awareness for all hiring leaders and interview panel participants.
  • Organize orientation program for new employees
  • Assist with the design and development of faculty onboarding and mentorship programs, as needed.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, consolidate and communicate key themes and action plans to address opportunities

2. Onboarding, Orientation, and Departing Process Facilitation

  • Assist with the design and development of faculty and support staff onboarding and orientation programs to ensure that all new hires are versed in relevant SAS policies, procedures and operating guidelines;
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, consolidate, communicate key themes and action plans to address opportunities;
  • Professional Development
  • Manage the appraisal process, evaluate professional development needs and suggest learning strategies and programs for support staff and professional technical employees;
  • Develop appropriate training materials including online modules,, multimedia and visual aids;
  • Schedule employee learning sessions, manage registration procedures, venue set up and other practical elements for planning professional development activities
  • Liaise with Skills Development Fund (SDF) and other organizations to source training grants and learning opportunities.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a database of professional development records
  • Coordinate required child safeguarding, employee harassment, or other relevant training needs for substitutes, coaches, consultants or other employee

3. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, & Employee Wellness

  • Support and guide the recruitment team to help create a brand that appeals to diverse applicants, disrupts unconscious biases, and considers safeguarding controls
  • Review workplace policies and procedures to ensure that they are all inclusive, develop schoolwide diversity, anti-racist and other relevant policies, and serve as the HR DEI coordinator
  • Lead reviews related to schoolwide employee allegations, grievances, or other concerns.
  • Support the Employee Wellness Coordinator with schoolwide Working on Wellness (WOW) initiatives
