Junior PHP Backend Developer

Job Description:
1. Develop server-side code in PHP

  1. Design and implement databases to store and retrieve data efficiently

  2. Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration with the frontend user interface

  3. Provide guidance, mentorship and support to more junior PHP Backend Developers, advise trainings and courses to take to improve their knowledge and skills

  4. Test and debug backend code to ensure it works as expected

  5. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and recommend new technologies and best practices


Requirements:

2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

  1. Strong proficiency in modern PHP frameworks, especially in Laravel

  2. Hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL or MongoDB

  3. Knowledge of architecture patterns and concepts such as MVP, singleton, caching strategies etc.

  4. Experience in working with RESTful APIs and JSON

  5. Experience in using version control systems, especially Git

  6. Familiarity with cloud computing services, especially AWS

  7. Very good command of English (both spoken and written)

  8. Strong communication and collaboration skills

  9. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  10. Experience working in an Agile development environment

  11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly


Nice to have:
1. Most of the team is Arabic-speaking, so a very good command of Arabic is a nice too have (in addition to the mandatory very good level of English)

  1. Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, etc.) and their integration with backend systems

  2. Prior experience mentoring junior developers

  3. Contributions to open-source projects or technical blogs
