Benefits Officer
Main Purpose of the Job Role:
To collaborate with the Benefits Team Leader in delivering a service that meets client needs and safeguards public funds. Ensure all decisions adhere to legislation, local policies, and procedures. Undertake the annual recalculation of benefits claims, test system releases, and implement new system functions. Collaborate on completing initial, mid-year, and final Housing Benefit Subsidy claims, supporting audit processes.

Essential Criteria:
Experience:
Five years' experience assessing claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
- Three years' experience completing Housing Benefit subsidy workbooks and working with external auditors.
- Experience supporting team members in delivering Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
Knowledge:
Good understanding of legislation related to decision-making on Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
- Good understanding of the Housing Benefit subsidy audit process.
System Proficiency:
Proficient in using the Civica OpenRevenues system.
- Experience using IT systems for accurate information input and retrieval.

Time Management:
Good time management skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, and prioritize to meet deadlines.

- Experience explaining complex issues in face-to-face, telephone-based, or video-based environments.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Benefits Team Leader in delivering a service that meets client needs and safeguards public funds.
- Ensure all decisions are made in accordance with legislation, local policies, and procedures.
- Undertake the annual recalculation of benefits claims as part of the annual billing process.
- Test system releases and implement new system functions, communicating changes to the team effectively.
- Collaborate on completing initial, mid-year, and final Housing Benefit Subsidy claims.
- Work with the Benefits Team Leader and external auditors to complete audit work supporting the Housing Benefit Subsidy audit, from case selection to DWP sign-off.

Salary: £26.92-£35.00 per hour
