The Role
As an EL 1 Project Lead in HR Transformation Branch (HRTB), you will lead small cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders across Defence to execute projects that embed a One Defence People System. Other Project Lead roles include managing a team that assesses program risks and benefits realisation.

Project delivery will include performing current state assessments, developing operating models, conducting change impact analysis, implementation planning and delivering a range of tailored implementation activities. The scope of these projects will vary from supporting the preparedness and delivery of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program to enabling the reform of the Defence People System Functions.

About our Team
HR Transformation is a program of change and reform activities, including the delivery of One Defence People System. HRTB provides a program overview of these activities to ensure that the work is prioritised, sequenced, aligned and resourced appropriately.

The Branch supports Defence People Group (DPG)’s transition to Defence’s ERP Program, develop and deliver HR and Education Training reform initiatives, manage DPG’s ICT projects and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Roadmap, and is the steward of Defence’s HR data.

The Branch supports three strategic Defence priorities;

  • Defence Strategic Review (DSR) -Support Defence’s investment in the growth and retention of a highly skilled workforce, and simplifying and improving HR systems and processes.
  • One Defence People System Deliver a single integrated HR operating model to help Defence people.
  • Defence 2022-26 Corporate Plan - Defence becoming an employer of choice, attracting and retaining talented and skilled people from across Australia to the ADF and APS.

The Branch is entering an exciting time, with the development of the enterprise view of HR transformation progressing and the implementation phase of HR and Education and Training reform now underway. The role would be suited to individuals who:

  • Have a proven ability to deliver results in a fast paced and evolving environment;
  • Are comfortable working with ambiguity and enjoy critical thinking and collaborating to solve complex problems;
  • Have strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Have solid project management and analytical skills to effectively prioritise work, sequence deliverables and perform risk management responsibilities;
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to make the complex simple, and the simple, compelling;
  • Be comfortable facilitating workshops in both an online and face-to-face capacity;
  • Have experience working on reform initiatives that contribute to the improvement of business practices or systems;
  • Have experience in one or more of the following areas: Human Resources, program management, change management design, business process improvement, information systems or the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program.
