Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems (EWIS) Joint & Air Systems Program Office (J&A SPO) is seeking a talented and experienced security professional to join our team and perform the role of an APS 6 Security Advisor. The successful applicant will be required to perform, contribute, and achieve complex security work within an integrated workforce under general guidance.
This position is located within EWIS J&A SPO Business Management Unit and will be responsible for establishing a positive security culture and environment for activities, information and personnel. Within the Physical Security function the APS6 Security Advisor is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex protective security work within an integrated workforce. They will work within the legislation framework, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s mission and business objectives.
The Security Advisor will actively manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop, and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes. The Security Advisor will develop and maintain close links with a range of other Defence and Defence Industry security partners.
About our Team
The EWIS J&A SPO undertakes the acquisition and through-life-support of assigned Joint and Air Electronic Warfare Capabilities used by the Australian Defence Force. It delivers countermeasures development and validation services and supports a number of projects being delivered to the Intelligence and Security Group.
You will be a part of the Business Management Unit (BMU) team with 6 dedicated team members delivering support to project and product teams, financial management, security services, recruitment and HR services, risk management, quality management and governance, data and records management, commercial management, learning and development, and work, health and safety.
- Provide detailed security, technical, and professional advice which will contribute to program and project management and planning;
- Have the capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes;
- Knowledge of and ability to provide advice on security incidents that is in accordance with the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF);
- Work collaboratively with other EWIS SPO stakeholders to support the achievement of outcomes;
- Highly developed communication skills;
- Ability to set work priorities and manage workflows; and
- Actively participate in team work and group activities;
- Ability to be the SPO Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO)
