Job Title: Solution Architect for Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Job Description and Summary

  • The Solution Architect will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the architecture within the Cloud Infrastructure including designing solutions for IAAS/PaaS/SaaS on a hybrid cloud platform, supporting the existing business processes.
  • Whilst a deeply technical role, this role also offers the opportunity to engage in customer interaction to comprehend the customer requirements and suggest the best architecture solution for the new as well as existing clients and help them with the initial setup and deployment of the new solutions.
  • The Solution Architect will have a line reporting to the Head of IT Architecture, with a functional reporting to the Enterprise Architect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create documentation around the solution proposal, design, and implementation.
  • Lead the consulting, assessment, PoC and implementation engagements of Hybrid Cloud solutions.
  • Engage with customers and implementation teams around solving business and technical problems in the Hybrid Cloud ecosystem.
  • Provide technical oversight, review, and quality control of artefacts throughout the project.
  • Contribute to the development of Hybrid Cloud standards, best practices, and organizational capability.
  • Ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture fundamentals and compliance with the Enterprise Architecture guidelines and standards.
  • Interact and interface with external partners and Architecture Team to ensure the right architecture is achieved through collaboration.
  • Define domain specific principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for the Project Start Architecture or High-level solution direction.
  • Ensure that the architecture decisions are compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the importance of architectural artefacts and ensure they are maintained in the shared platform such as Enterprise Architecture Repository
  • Analyse the current ways of working and solution architecture to identify the gaps and suggest ways of improvements.
  • Engage with Sales and Pre-sales team helping them with technical design, bill of quantity, effort estimation and transformation approach around IAAS, PAAS and SAAS for RFPs

Job Requirements (Work Experience: 14+ years)

  • Flexible for short-term business travels.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Engineering or bachelor’s degree in mathematics or computer science or IT
  • Certification in VMware, Microsoft, Azure, and AWS
  • Hands-on experience using compute, virtualisation, networking, storage, backup/archival, containers, databases, monitoring, and management tools using 1 or more major OEM products such as VMware, Red Hat, Microsoft, DellEMC, HPE or IBM
  • Implementation experience in elasticity and scalability concepts
  • Understanding of network technologies such as NSX/NSX-T as they relate to Hybrid Cloud and Containerisation
  • A good understanding and implementation experience of all security features and Cloud Management platform (CMP) tools
  • Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS deployment and management services, and as well as third-party tools
  • Hands-on experience in moving IaaS workloads using Re-hosting or Re-factoring migration approach.
  • Broad project lifecycle experience - especially in Enterprise environments starting from Cloud Application assessment to migration.
  • Expert knowledge of Azure or AWS or OpenStack platform features and capabilities
  • Good hands-on and knowledge of Container management using Docker Swarm or Kubernetes
  • Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, reverse proxies, routing, switching etc.)
  • Security (firewall configuration, IPS/IDS etc.) and other Cloud security controls
  • Understanding of common database technologies (e.g., backup/restoration, replication/mirroring)
  • Experience designing for disaster recovery, hybrid cloud storage, backup and archival.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science/ IT / Business Administration or Mathematics
  • Other foreign languages such as Swedish, French, or German will be an added advantage.
  • Advanced Cloud Architect Certification
  • A strong understanding and experience of how to interact with the hybrid cloud (SDK, APIs, Command Line Interface, Azure ARM, or AWS CloudFormation)
  • Experience using Azure ARM/Automation or AWS Cloud Formation or automated deployment/configuration tools (e.g., Chef/Puppet) Java SE & EE, including EJB3.x, Web services, JMS, including two or more different JMS implementations (e.g., WebSphere MQ / MQSeries, ActiveMQ, HornetQ, Oracle AQ, etc)
  • Two or more Java EE Application Servers (JBoss AS, Glassfish, WebSphere, WebLogic)
  • Familiarity with other cloud technologies
  • Bash Shell Scripting in Linux/Unix, AWK
  • Windows PowerShell

Job Types: Permanent, Fixed term

Salary: €400.00-€580.00 per day
