Are you an experienced class 5 driver looking for your next role? We're looking for a professional and proactive driver who is passionate about driving to join our growing business.
You'll need a full and clean Class 5 license, solid driving experience (ideally within refrigerated transport) and be committed to working safely. We are after someone who is self-motivated with a positive attitude and is proficient in reversing units and working to strict time deadlines. There are currently two shifts available for this metro run which are Monday through to Saturday or Tuesday through to Saturday where you will be required to work up to 12+ hours per day with a 7.00am start time.
The accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Follow processes & complete applicable documentation to ensure pre trip checks are conducted accurately & correct temperature is set & monitored
- Ensure freight is loaded & unloaded safely in line with company & client requirements, ensuring weight limits are not breached.
- Manage time effectively to ensure service delivery
- Plan routes effectively to ensure most cost effective & efficient delivery / pick-up of freight
- Ensure issues/incidents that could impact service delivery are communicated & resolved in a timely way
- Ensure paperwork required is completed & handed in (PODs etc.)
- Perform & record regular, scheduled, temperature probes of the goods while in transit, adjust temperature settings as required & advise supervisor immediately of any issues
Vehicle & Equipment Use
- Complete pre-start checks to ensure vehicle is fit for purpose & roadworthy (mechanical checks for tyres, oil, fuel)
- Ensure that there are enough RUC's, for both truck & trailer to complete shift
- Sight & confirm that the truck & trailer has current COF & registration
- Report any maintenance / repair issues & requirements to the Transport Manager immediately
- Use all equipment in a safe & efficient manner
- Minimise wear & tear when driving
- Responsible for ensuring vehicle is washed, the cab clean, personal items are removed & rubbish free prior to the end of each shift
- Leave vehicle at the completion of each shift with sufficient fuel & AdBlue for the following shift
Qualifications To be successful in this role you'll need**:
- A full & clean Class 5 license, with a minimum of 12 months NZ Class 5 driving experience within refrigerated transport
- Be competent operating all a Semi unit & proficient with reversing onto a raised dock
- Hold a current counterbalance forkhoist licence & be able to load & unload trucks from a raised dock
- Previous pallet jack experience as there is a fair bit of physical work involved
- Have a working knowledge of Eroad & TruckMate
