Senior Urban Designer

A busy architectural studio in Dublin city centre are seeking to recruit a Senior Urban Designer to join the growing team.

The successful Senior Urban Designer will have the opportunity to work on a range of urban design and masterplanning projects of varying complexities and scales. Their current project portfolio extends across medium and largescale residential, mixed-use, masterplanning, urban extensions and urban design.

The Lead Urban Designer should have over 8 years’ urban design /masterplanning experience in Ireland, UK or across Europe, possess excellent communication, presentation / design skills, who can lead a small team.

Skills & Experience desired:

  • Hold Masters level qualification *Urban Design *or similar
  • In excess of 8 years post qualification experience in Urban Design, preferably gained in Ireland, UK or across Europe
  • Possess a good knowledge of planning policies and the planning process in Ireland along with an excellent knowledge of urban design best practice
  • Proactive, responsible and able to use initiative and work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • The ability to produce coherent and well resolved urban design concepts and master planning schemes
  • Prepare drawings and reports for a range of outputs including strategic frameworks, masterplans, feasibility studies etc.
  • Have a good knowledge of technical standards, regulatory frameworks and health & safety requirements
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, and to demonstrate competency in presenting ideas and concepts
  • Exposure to private / public sector planning and urban design
  • Fully knowledgeable of building components and typologies along with the relationship to public space and urban infrastructure
  • Good level of proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and adobe suite, knowledge of ArcGIS beneficial
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, presentation, graphics and 3d design skills
  • A passion for excellence, and a desire to embrace new and innovative thinking
  • MUST hold eligibility to work in Ireland
