Overview:
Responsibilities:
Estimation and Cost Analysis:

  • Utilize engineering principles and industry standards to prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
  • Analyze cost factors, pricing trends, and market conditions to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and reports for internal review and client presentations.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the MEP sector through market research, networking, and relationship building.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote company services and expand network connections.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop effective strategies for business growth and market penetration.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and other materials to pitch services to prospective clients.

Project Coordination:

  • Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate cost estimates align with project timelines and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support during the bidding and negotiation process, including clarifications and value engineering suggestions.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and regular progress meetings to address any cost-related issues and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to obtain pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to MEP estimation and business development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the estimation and business development workflow.
  • Actively participate in training programs, workshops, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in MEP estimation, preferably in a construction or engineering firm.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction methods, and building codes/regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business development experience, including sales techniques and client relationship management, is highly desirable.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Cost Professional, UPDA Professional Engineer) are a plus.
