Our Hastings site is seeking an energetic leader to lead our night shift crew!
This is an exciting opportunity to join our manufacturing team in a key hands-on leadership role where you will have strong influence and leadership responsibilities.
As the Shift Manager, you will be leading your team to ensure our vegetable products are processed and packaged, ready for distribution to the customer.
About the role:
Health and Safety
- Champion/coach/improve H&S culture and ensuring compliance within the Production Department
- Incident Investigation and Corrective Action requirements
- Conduct Behaviour Observation Survey’s as directed
Operational Tasks
- To ensure all movements (transactions), are accurate and timely through WMS & SAP systems
- All Kronos data to be entered accurately and in a timely manner
- To resolve any issues that impede the effective operation of the processing and packing plant, and report any unresolved issues to the Production Manager
- Train in other tasks as part of a multi skilled team as required
Change Management
- Key member of the Leadership group and Quality team, responsible for implementation and sustainment of all continuous improvement activities, including best practice and standard operating procedures.
Staff Development and Training
- Ensure all employees are trained in and signed off as competent in required tasks.
- A ‘hands on’ approach to developing a strong production team that is capable of sustaining the rate of change within the operation.
- Ensure, in collaboration with the site H&S and Training Coordinator, each team member has a comprehensive Personal Development and Training Programme.
Cost & Delivery
- To ensure the department is run within budget.
- To ensure production targets are met e.g. line rate, schedule attainment etc.
- Achieving department goals with regard to Hour-by-Hour Boards, recovery, reduced product waste, factory downtime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Hold creation/rework.
Continuous Improvement
- To be accountable for MDI and provide the leadership that the team requires to implement and sustain improvements made through continuous improvement events.
- Champion RTM, DAM and MDI
- OEE ownership
Compliance & Quality (Product and Systems
- Accountability for food safety and quality specification requirements of all production from the shift.
- To ensure that all quality systems are adhered throughout each shift.
- To ensure all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the plant are compliant with Local body, Legislative and Corporate requirements.
- HACCP, GMP and Quality System programmes
- Internal auditing team member
People
- To lead the team through positive role modelling and influence
To be successful in this role you will need:
- To hold good health and safety practices in the highest regard
- Have previous leadership experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, Safety, Quality (HACCP, GMP), Warehouse Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.
- Champion a learning culture within your team; coaching skills are an advantage
- Strong mechanical aptitude and RCA knowledge
- Excellent communication skills at all levels with the ability create a climate where people are motivated to do their best.
- A ‘Can do’ attitude - leading from the front, ushering in change, and challenging the status quo.
- Great organizational and problem solving skills.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role and work a 12 hour 4x4 night shift pattern.
