The Role
Mitre 10 Onehunga has a permanent, full-time vacancy (40 hours per week) working Tuesday to Saturday across the Outdoor, Indoor and Power Garden Departments.
The position will suit someone with a real passion for gardening, whether this has been cultivated as a hobby or in a previous position. You will enjoy helping customers select plants, dry goods, fertilizer, pest control products, garden accessories, indoor gardens, and power gardens.
This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated team. We are seeking a person who can deliver excellent customer service to our Trade and DIY customers and assist them to find the right products to meet their needs. Daily duties will include customer service, selling, bringing in stock, merchandising new products, replenishing shelves, and much more.
You will be part of a very supportive and knowledgeable team that works together to deliver great service, all the while learning and growing your sales career.
About You
You will be a solution-focused, enthusiastic, and team-spirited individual with a positive energy for getting the job done right. Retail experience is preferred but not essential. You will be someone who:
- can offer the right solutions to customers’ queries
- has some knowledge and experience with green gardens but is also eager to learn and be trained
- is a naturally keen gardener and likes to be hands-on, being physically fit and able to do some heavy lifting
- understands the merchandising of products
- has excellent communication and listening skills
- is comfortable working in all weather conditions
- is able to take the initiative, and is mature and autonomous
- has good time management skills
