Job Title: Loader Operator
Location: Mowe, Lagos
A skid steer operator is responsible for operating and maneuvering skid steer loaders, also known as skid loaders or bobcats, to perform various tasks in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and other industries. Skid steer operators typically work on job sites to assist with material handling, earthmoving, grading, and other tasks requiring the use of heavy equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation: Operate skid steer loaders to move materials, load and unload trucks, excavate soil, grade terrain, and perform other tasks as directed by supervisors or project plans.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while operating skid steer loaders, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting pre-operational equipment checks.
- Material Handling:Use attachments such as buckets, forks, grapples, and augers to handle various types of materials, including dirt, gravel, concrete, lumber, and debris.
- Site Preparation: Assist with site preparation activities such as clearing vegetation, leveling ground, and removing obstacles to facilitate construction or landscaping projects.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on skid steer loaders, including checking fluid levels, inspecting hydraulic systems, lubricating moving parts, and cleaning the equipment after use.
- Communication:Coordinate with other team members, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and communicate any issues or concerns related to equipment operation or job site conditions.
- Quality Control: Ensure that work is performed according to project specifications and quality standards, paying attention to detail and making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience operating skid steer loaders or similar heavy equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of construction or landscaping practices and terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and work orders.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in various weather conditions.
- Attention to safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
