What does the job involve
- Assist in identifying and developing investment opportunities in line with our core focus areas: talent development, digital infrastructure, market consolidation, and environmental sustainability.
- Work closely with a small team on 2-3 investment projects, contributing to problem analysis, solution development, financial modeling, and pitch deck creation.
- Engage in hands-on support for startups, including field research, partnership brokering, and relationship building within the startup ecosystem.
- Provide strategic support to investment projects post-intense building phase, possibly including board representation.
- Represent Future Africa at industry events and contribute to our thought leadership in the venture capital space.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or venture capital.
- Extensive experience supporting founders in the African startup ecosystem.
- A track record of academic, professional and personal excellence.
- Experience on leading delivery on complex projects with multiple stakeholders and hydra headed challenges with indisputable and quantifiable outcomes.
- Experience working in a high pace and high pressure environments.
- Experience as a startup founder or early startup employee and/or experience in providing hands on support to startups.
- Comfortable in financial modeling, creating storylines on word and slides.
- Comfortable doing primary research through interviews and field research.
- Comfortable brokering partnerships and building relationships with ecosystem actors who can be helpful to the startups.
- Investment experience and networks are a plus.
- A track record of servant leadership and a willingness to coach and mentor entrepreneurs.
