A Production Operator works on a 12 hour shift on a rota system (weekend and night work is required in the shift pattern). You will work as a member of a busy team. The Production Operator is responsible for managing the supply of material to the extrusion line and the output of finished product in line with customer specifications.

General Duties:

  • Manage the feed of material at the start of the line so that there is a consistent flow of material to the shredder
  • Escalate any concerns as to the quality of the raw material to Lead Operator/Production Supervisor/Quality Manager
  • Complete periodic quality tests on all materials to include but not limited to colour, IV and fluorescence
  • Manage the input of raw material so that the daily blend targets set for that production run are achieved
  • Manage the bagging and output of finished material at the end of the line ensuring the capacity of the bags/containers is optimised
  • Manage the removal, labelling and storage of reject material away from the line
  • Implement changes to raw material input as instructed by the Production Supervisor or Quality Manager
  • Ensure a thorough handover is completed before and at the conclusion of the shift to ensure that transitions are managed smoothly and effectively
  • Operator Counterbalance Forklift and Clamp Truck in a safe manner
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping on the production floor
  • To actively take part in Continuous Improvement on site - e.g. 6S
  • To ask, if in doubt, about any particular practice or unusual finding.
  • Participate in relevant training and upskilling as required

Quality & Production Controls

  • This is not an exhausted list and you may be asked to carry out other duties as required by the business
  • Escalating concerns about quality of raw materials
  • Addressing any health & safety concerns
  • Escalating issues with finished product
  • Achieving blend targets
  • Maximising bag and container weights
  • All waste created is weighed, recorded and managed correctly
  • Capturing Lab colour results as agreed with Quality Engineer and responding to changes in the colour values in line with procedure.
  • Licenced Operator of Counterbalance Forklift and Clamp Truck
