About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites: London, Glasgow, Perth, or Dublin.

Salary: Up to £50,300 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

This role offers you the opportunity to join a critical team in delivering the Group's M&A, project financing, and investment appraisal project. This role will primarily focus on Solar & Battery Storage - one of the fastest growing parts of SSE Group with an exciting multi-GW pipeline of projects in train.

You will play a pivotal role in driving forward all areas across the Corporate Finance team, with extensive involvement in transaction execution of solar and battery acquisitions, structuring partnerships or joint ventures, and supporting projects through to final investment decision. You will support project valuations, coordinate due diligence and governance, whilst helping to negotiate terms and legal documentation.

Some of your main accountabilities may include:

  • Reviewing, assessing and supporting on execution of M&A and project financing transactions.
  • Appraising potential investment and divestment decisions.
  • Completing financial model assurance or leading modelling workstreams by developing, creating and owning financial models.
  • Coordinating with internal teams and external consultants involved in due diligence, governance, and legal documentation.
  • Support the negotiation of commercial terms and work with in-house legal and external legal advisers to ensure that the agreed deal terms are reflected in legal agreements.
  • Inputting to Board / Executive committee papers and presentations.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Some prior experience in a corporate finance, transaction services, audit or consulting role.
  • Highly analytical and experienced problem solver with a keen attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator who can simplify complex messages and provide high quality work on a timely and consistent basis.
  • An understanding of finance and valuation concepts and some financial modelling experience would be desirable.
  • A professional qualification such as ACA or CFA would be considered helpful but is not essential.
  • Understanding of the acquisition deal lifecycle, typical due diligence, governance and legal documentation.
  • Experience in renewables, including solar and battery storage strongly preferred.
