We are a New Zealand owned and operate horticultural management business based in the Bay of Plenty. Some travel within the region may be required, but you will be paid your hourly rate for the time you take to travel within the region.

We require 2 full-time permanent Team Leaders to join our existing team. You will report to the directors/senior management. You will work a minimum of 30 hours each week and up to 40 hours each week. Your allocated/rostered hours will be between Monday to Sunday, 7:00am to 6:30pm.

The rate for this role is $29.70 per hour.

To be successful in this role, as you are leading a team, we require you to provide evidence of at least 3 years full-time in a supervisory or managerial role where you were overseeing other staff, we are after transferrable supervisory/managerial skills. We are open to you working in other industries.

The majority of this role is supervisory oriented, however, there will be some hands-on work.

Your role will:

  • Report to the company’s directors/senior management about any incidents or information relating to the running of the business including but not limited to staff complaints, staff misconduct and timely health and safety updates.
  • Create and present reports during staff meetings and when asked by the directors/senior management.
  • Supervising employee training as needed and providing feedback to the directors/senior management.
  • Review staff performance and make notes about staff.
  • Talk to staff and if necessary provide the directors/senior management with details regarding any written warnings needing to be made. Convey the employee’s opinions of feelings (satisfaction or dissatisfaction with work) and provide recommendations if necessary.
  • Start and end each shift with a briefing and debriefing, providing the people on your team with important information regarding the tasks needing to be done and the expected work quality.
  • Discuss any issues noted from the previous day’s work and how those issues will be resolved today.
  • Ensure that staff are aware of any hazards identified on the site.
  • Distribute any equipment as required.
  • Ensure that all paperwork is accurately and honestly completed.
  • After each shift, walk through the site ensuring that work has been completed standard. If any minor fixings need to be made, ensure that it is made or that a note is made and that employees fix the issues on their next working day. Talk to the directors/senior management regarding what other work is needed.
  • Ensure that if there is conflict between two parties, then this resolved in a reasonable way and that a report is sent to the directors/senior management.
  • From time to time, you will be required to drive the company vehicle and/or use the company vehicle to pick staff members. If this occurs, then it is absolutely necessary that you record the name of every person being picked up and the time that the person is picked.
  • Ensure compliance with prescribed occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Teach staff techniques when required and carry out hands on work as required.
